Mechanic finds small bird hiding in SUV's engine air filter

ST. LOUIS (UPI) -- A Missouri mechanic searching for the origin of a "loud squeak" under the hood of an SUV discovered a small bird living in the engine air filter housing.
Daniel Jaeger posted a video to YouTube showing the Jeep Cherokee that came into his shop with a complaint of "loud squeaking" under the hood.
Jaeger says he was nearly ready to say he was unable to find the cause of the issue until he heard a scratching noise while the engine wasn't running.
The mechanic says he initially believed there was a mouse or other rodent moving around inside the engine, but he removes the engine air filter housing to reveal the unusual squatter -- a small bird.
The bird perches on Jaeger's finger.
"I can't believe how calm this guy is," Jaeger says. I mean, he's probably terrified.
The bird shows off the "squeak" that was the source of the Jeep owner's complaint before being released outside.
